Safety: The reserve is shared with the RAF's military bombing range so look out for red warning flags. When these flags are out, don't head out onto the sandbanks. There is generally no military activity at weekends and bank holidays.

Give the seals maximum respect - don't rush around the sandbanks and scare the animals. They can also be quick to attack if you upset them.

Seal watching, bird spotting. Gibraltar Point is located nearby with its excellent facilities for viewing wintering birds.

The reserve covers over 6 miles of coastline between Grainthorpe Haven and Saltfleet on the Lincolnshire coast.

There are parking facilities at Stonebridge, Howden's
Pullover, Sea Lane, Saltfleet and Saltfleet Haven. Public access is also possible at Merrikin's Pullover , but there are no parking facilities. Access at Howden's Pullover, Saltfleet Haven and Merrikin's Pullover is down unmetalled roads.

For the breeding colony of Grey Seals, visitors can use the small, free car park at Stonebridge. A local farmer usually opens a field for parking for which there will be a charge.

Weekdays are the best time to visit - the narrow lanes and car park get very congested at weekends. Organised parties can be arranged via the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust's Coastal Warden.
