 | | Norman bought his first trick from Tommy's brother |
Norman says that he first got involved in magic when he was a nine year-old. "My father took me to a shop in Slough which was run by Tommy Cooper's brother, who looked exactly like him. It was called Cooper's Magic Shop and I bought my first tricks there. "I then did it as a child for friends and for children's parties." After college Norman turned professional and still does lots of children's shows. "It can be quite difficult. I've been doing it for quite a few years now. You have to promote yourself and be quite entertaining. It is quite competitive, there are quite a lot of people doing it. "If you are entertaining children they are very observant. There are things that children notice that adults don't. I did do a trick once with the linking rings and was swinging the rings up in the air and I managed to smash someone's light and they caught it all on camera!" Norman also makes balloon animals, but you'll have to listen to the audio for that one! |
