Goodbye to all that? Fears about historic property destruction

The North West has more so-called brownfield development than anywhere else in the country outside of London.

But while this is preserving our greenbelt, are we in danger of sacrificing our heritage in the name of progress?

Andy Johnson travels to Lancaster, Formby and Liverpool to find out why perfectly good buildings are being demolished to make way for more housing.

He also meets the man who believes property developers are raining more destruction on the North West than Hitler’s Luftwaffe did during the war.

With houses in a well known conservation area seemingly not safe from the demolition gangs, Inside Out asks do we need a change to the law to protect our well loved buildings?

Skateboarder

Scouse skateboarder - Geoff Rowley is king of the boards

Mention the name Geoff Rowley in the North West and you’re likely to be met with a blank look - and yet he’s one of the most famous skateboarders in the world.

Born and raised in Liverpool, Geoff moved to California as a teenager to pursue his dream of becoming a professional street skater.

Jacey Normand found out what a phenomenon he is when she travelled to the states to meet him and be taught skateboarding by the master himself.

Geoff has his own range of trainers and skateboards which bear his name, and you’ll see why he’s such a cult figure among skateboard enthusiasts when you see his breathtaking stunts on tonight’s Inside Out.

Treasure trove - archaeologists hunt for Roman relics

The Inside Out team goes treasure hunting on farmland in Cheshire.

Cheshire is renowned for its Roman connections.

We join the archaeologists as they discover the remains of a Roman Fort.
