Fireplace and cupboards Remove any brick fireplaces and replace with cupboards, finished with fretwork doors. Paint the cupboards in water-based eggshell and add Indian ceramic handles. Build a similar pair of full height freestanding alcove cupboards from 18mm MDF. |

Floors Rip up any existing carpet and stain the floorboards using wood dye. Make two rugs out of a length of scarlet red carpet, using a blow torch to stop them from fraying. |

Lighting Replace existing lights with a pair of brass and amber glass Moroccan lanterns. Cover a poster tube with suedette and place it over a simple small lamp base. Cover a basic drum shade with the suedette and decorate with large Indian-style sequins. |

Banners Make a pair of suedette banners with brown organza inlays. Using an ornate paisley stencil and fabric paint, cover the organza with an ornate design and highlight the outline with beads and sequins. |
