High Noon - 25th February 2004
  Underworld Again
Going to great lengths to secure publicity for the DVD release of Finding Nemo, Disney has grabbed the bloke who walked the London Marathon in a diving suit to watch their aquatic adventure underwater - hence the above daft photo. Obviously, this is a blatant plug, but if a publicity stunt brings a smile to Uncle High Noon's crinkly, booze-sodden face, then to hell with the BBC's commercial policy guidelines.

And anyway, the picture serves to distract from the fact that our top story is the less-than-inspiring news that a sequel's been greenlit to vampires versus werewolves yarn Underworld. Kate Beckinsale will return as the bloodsucker in love with Scott Speedman's hairy beast. Original director (and Ms Beckinsale's other half) Len Wiseman will also return to helm the script by Danny McBride.
  Killer Comedy
Lethal Weapon scribe Shane Black will make his directorial debut with action-comedy Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang. Robert Downey Jr will star as a thief pretending to be an actor, who teams with Val Kilmer's private eye to investigate a murder. Up'n'coming The Bourne Supremacy actress Michelle Monaghan is the totty. Last Action Hero II, anyone? Anyone? Hello?
  Join The Revolution
Mr Movie-A-Decade, Terrence Malick, has filled out the cast of Che, his biopic of the revolutionary Mr Guevara. Joining Benicio Del Toro will be The Believer's Ryan Gosling, Before Night Falls star Javier Bardem, ex-Julia Roberts squeeze Benjamin Bratt, and Run Lola Run's Franka Potente. Cameras roll in the summer. Knowing Malick, they'll still be rolling next spring.
  Oh Lordy
Lord Of The Rings production house New Line Cinema has nabbed the rights to Cornelia Funke's fantasy novel Inkheart, which it hopes will kickstart a kid-friendly franchise. It's about a girl whose dad can bring to life characters from books. All well and good, until he's kidnapped by a children's story villain.
  Mad Miller
Mad Max director George Miller is in talks to direct a science fiction flick and a revenge thriller. The Sparrow, adapted from Mary Doria Russell's novel, is about a Jesuit priest who leads a mission to extraterrestrials in the near-future (!).

The Brave One, meanwhile, is pitched as Death Wish with a female lead - with The Matrix's Joel Silver producing. Clearly Miller wants to end up like DW director Michael Winner: dressed as a fairy doing insurance adverts.
  Winslet Working
Kate Winslet has replaced Cate Blanchett in A Doll's House, a drama from Faithless director Liv Ullmann. Shooting is set to start in January. Blanchett is off having a baby...

Scooby Doo (and ex-Home And Away) star Isla Fisher has inked to play the object of Owen Wilson's affections in The Wedding Crashers. Scary Chris Walken plays her dad.
