Nicholas Nickleby DVD (2003)

Please sir, our reviewer asked for more when she described this new, all star Dickens adaptation as "like a bowl of watered down gruel". With the DVD release, substance is still lacking.

Motormouth McGrath

Writer/director Douglas McGrath could leave most standing when it comes to detailed commentaries. He barely draws breath as he gives us every thought he's ever had about the movie. He reveals some good production information, but this is not a commentary to be undertaken in one sitting.

Dickens For Dummies

For those of you who know nothing about Dickens, there's a rather efficient featurette where Andrew Xavier of the Dickens House Museum offers up a selection of facts about the writer.

What The Dickens!

After some solid extra features, we're left with crumbs like actors talking about each other (yawn), to a just about bearable making of featurette. Don't get excited about the multi-angle option unless this is your very first DVD.
