The cast and crew of the "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" dissect this enjoyable example of autumnal feelgood on DVD.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture Lush, warm colours fill the screen in a transfer that keeps the detail high, despite the relentless soft focus.
Sound The 5.1 mix offers good bass support to the music score.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Audio Commentary One Writer-director Callie Khouri is joined by a sizeable selection of her production team for this commentary.
Khouri jokes for a moment that Sandra Bullock wasn't her first choice, only to admit that in fact the screenplay was written with Bullock in mind. It was Bullock's sense of timing that Khouri felt would complement her writing perfectly.
Despite having her main lead in place, Khouri had little time to get the rest of the cast together. That process, and what each veteran performer brings to the screen, is analysed in detail.
Audio Commentary Two Khouri returns, this time only with actor Ashley Judd for company. Apart from a few cute observations by Judd, this is thin stuff that doesn't yield much of interest.
Unlocking the Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood This 14-minute making of featurette opens with each of the veteran leads giving their thoughts on how important good friendships can be. The rest of the chat focuses on characters and plot.
"Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" Scrapbook Another feature on this DVD with an incredibly long name, this interactive scrapbook allows you to browse through short interviews and little featurettes on talking southern and 'Ya-Ya' moments.
Additional Extra Features Also on the DVD are 15 minutes of additional scenes, a music video, cast and crew list, and a trailer.
