Murder by Numbers DVD (2002)

The director of "Single White Female" serves up another thriller, this time with Sandra Bullock in the lead. Sadly there's no extra Bullock on the DVD.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Picture The cool tones of the cinematography make for an icy clean picture transfer to disc.

Sound While there's not a lot of activity in this 5.1 mix, the bass support for the music score is as satisfyingly rich as you'd hope for in a thriller.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Audio Commentary Director Barbet Schroeder and editor Lee Percy have themselves a nice old chat through the film. The problem with this commentary is that it really is like a chit-chat, as they watch the movie and often just end up describing what's happening on-screen.

At least to begin with they have a few interesting comments to make about the structure and script development of the project. Percy refers to an extended opening sequence that will apparently be included on the DVD, but in fact isn't.

Schroeder bemoans the ugly school locations used in the film. The original school they were filming in became embroiled in a gun-related incident, and it was decided the school didn't want the movie crew there as a result.
