Arghh! Watch out if you hate spiders as the wonderfully silly "Eight Legged Freaks" scuttles onto DVD, but with precious few creepy crawly features.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture Bright and detailed, you won't miss a single freak with this clear picture transfer.
Sound How do you like your eight-legged freaks: behind you, in front of you, or somewhere to the side? No need to choose for this effective 5.1 mix has skittering terrors coming at you from all directions. It's a powerful enough sound track to mask your screams, too...
SPECIAL FEATURES
Audio Commentary Director Ellory Elkayem is joined by producer Dean Devlin and actors David Arquette and Rick Overton for a rambling commentary that scuttles between lame jokes and vague points of interest.
Perhaps the most crucial point we learn is that Arquette's beard for this movie was fake, and you'll find the commentators keen to draw your attention to this fact many times. Otherwise, we learn that Elkayem and Devlin are big fans of 50s monster features, and that Sean Penn's mother (Eileen Ryan) hated smoking, despite the fact that she always has a fag in her mouth in the movie.
There is some discussion about the film's CGI effects, which are slightly unusual as quite a few of the freaks are captured in sunlit scenes, where making effects look real is that much harder.
Additional Extra Features Also on the DVD is a trailer, and a cast and crew list.
