Just when you thought you'd never see the wacky road race genre again, along comes "Rat Race", and judging by the DVD, everyone had a lot of fun making it.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture Bright and colourful, everything checks out fine for image quality.
Sound This 5.1 mix means business, whether it's accentuating the mayhem, or applying massive bass underpinning for the car effects.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Interview Director Jerry Zucker and producer Andy Breckman chat about the film in this eight-minute featurette. Revelation-filled this isn't, but they talk about changes to the script structure, and alternative ideas for certain scenes.
Making Of John Cleese's opening statement that the script was "the best premise that I've been offered in 20 years" is so arresting that you may find yourself somewhat dazed for most of this 22-minute featurette. There's plenty of behind-the-scenes footage on offer here, and while most of the cast interviews are about their characters the tone is amiable enough to make this fun to watch.
Deleted Scenes Jerry Zucker introduces the six scenes here, most of which seemed funny when shot, but then didn't work for the film.
Outtake Apparently this is Zucker's favourite outtake ever!
Gag Reel Three-and-a-half minutes of gags are here for you to enjoy. None of them are outrageously funny, but do seem to reflect a good-natured shoot.
