The Glass House DVD (2002)

Leelee Sobieski gains an attractive new postcode only to find her life in danger, in a thriller that, as our film review suggests, will provide enjoyable home entertainment, especially on DVD.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Picture The cool blues, greys, and muted colours of this film transfer to DVD to produce a slick picture of crisp tones.

Sound This may be a thriller as vacant as it is glossy, but the twists keep coming and the quality 5.1 sound mix gets you in the mood for enjoying this film. An appropriately dramatic music score keeps your speakers on edge, while the subwoofer revels in heavy bass enhancements for moments designed to make you jump.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Audio Commentary Director Dan Sackheim is joined by writer Wesley Strick in a self-congratulatory audio commentary. They really like their film but they don't irritate - which is quite a feat. Sackheim was very pleased with Sobieski, but her 5'10" height and excellent posture meant they had to cast tall adults to ensure she still came across as a young teenager rather than a sophisticated young woman. Otherwise, Sackheim and Strick concentrate mainly on plot, character structure, and filming technique.

Deleted Scene Sackheim and Strick offer up a commentary for a three-minute scene they both profess to liking so much, you're left wondering why they bothered to cut it out.

Additional Extra Features Also on the DVD are cast and crew filmographies, which combine with very short interviews that usually run at 30-40 seconds. Most concern character or plot, but producer Neal Moritz admits the film's intention was to add to a genre defined by such popular thrillers as "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle" and "Sleeping With the Enemy". A small trailer gallery is also on the disc.
