Compared to most films that sit on the shelf for years before release, "D-TOX" is a competent movie with a few thrills, but as with the recent DVD release of "Driven", there's extra material available to suggest that the film could have been better.
TECHNICAL FEATURES
Picture They're under Sly's eyes, they absorb maniacs, and generally litter this grimly-lit movie - shadows, and lots of them. Despite the dark nature of the picture, the detail is good for this quality transfer.
Sound An effective 5.1 mix plagues the rear speakers with creepy noises, which help in the movie's mission to create claustrophobic settings for the carnage to unfold.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Deleted Scenes There's 12 minutes of deleted material on this DVD. Its inclusion in the film wouldn't have instantly created a better movie, but it does throw up two points: the characters of the story are too shallow, and there's footage that could have helped with that problem; and there's some rather dynamic camera work around an impressive set which was then left out, leaving a somewhat pedestrian thriller.
Wrap Reel You won't find many wrap reels on DVDs - it's a little promo for all the actors and crew to watch at the end of shooting, where they congratulate each other on (oh the irony!) a sure-fire success.
Additional Extra Feature Also on the DVD is a trailer.
Region: 2
Chapters: 16
