Easily the last great Arnie movie to date, "True Lies" makes a welcome debut to DVD, but sadly is deemed unworthy of any extra features. It's got to be a safe bet that there will be a special edition along one day, but if you're desperate to relieve your VHS copy of its duties, the DVD does offer technical satisfaction.
It's good to see the film once again in its 2.35:1 ratio again, especially for those set piece moments that still impress today. Picture quality is good throughout, with razor sharp visuals and deep strong colours that freshen up the movie, making it look as good as any new release.
If it's been a while since you've seen "True Lies", it's more than likely that you'll be realising just how good it is compared with most recent blockbuster dreck out there. Your enjoyment of the film is further enhanced by a wild and powerful beast of a 5.1 sound mix. Busy with speaker crossing effects, there's also plenty for the subwoofer to do, with Arnie's jet fighter scene threatening to send your sub through the wall.
As for extra features, this disc offers only a trailer. What happened? We smell a collector's edition waiting for your cash sometime next year. Despite that, this disc is hard to resist if you fancy watching "True Lies" again.
