Sean Connery gets into crusty and reclusive mode for "Finding Forrester", now released onto a quality DVD.
It's a new film and a Columbia Tristar disc. That can only mean there's a typically professional picture transfer on offer here, with the muted colour scheme free of any grain.
The 5.1 sound mix concentrates on weaving subtle effects around the speakers, in a track that's designed to immerse you into the mood of the film. It does that well but just don't expect any major effects.
In terms of special features, this disc is a little on the light side. There's an HBO 'making of' featurette, which has plenty of interviews but all anyone talks about is their character motivations. Of more interest is a little feature on newcomer Rob Brown. Director Gus Van Sant and the crew mounted a massive search for an unknown, even chasing people in Harlem to get them to try out! Rob came to the film via a school audition and clearly blew them away.
There are also some trailers and filmographies, but otherwise you'll want this DVD for the quality of the transfer.
