If you're a fan of Eddie (real name Enzo), the dog in the TV show Frasier, then you'll be delighted to know that Enzo also appears in "My Dog Skip". He's so popular, his trainer provides an audio commentary for this excellent new DVD release. The pooch, thankfully, does not.
The art design of the movie is deliberately warm in colour. It looks a treat on the screen and there's no faulting the image quality.
The 5.1 sound mix is a layered affair of atmospheric country noises that keep the rear speakers busy, while the front set deal with the music.
Director Jay Russell provides an audio commentary, which, for the most part, is quite interesting. He discusses trying to interest such acting luminaries as Diane Lane in the film, and on his meeting with Willie Morris, author of the book upon which the movie is based.
As if one commentary isn't enough, Enzo's trainer, Mathilde DeCagney also contributes to a separate track along with actor Frankie Muniz. DeCagney talks at length about her work with animals, while Muniz relates the surprise of becoming a movie star.
Also included on the disc are a few deleted scenes and the original trailer. If the film appeals to you then this busy DVD release should please too.
