An adrenaline rush movie in the same mould as "Cliffhanger", "Vertical Limit" is an impressive DVD release.
If your sub woofer hasn't seen a lot of action recently then here's the disc to give it a thorough work out. Massive thunderous rumbles pound through with considerable force, underpinning the avalanches and ice-falls that punctuate the film. Wind whips around the surround speakers to great effect and there's never a quiet moment.
The DVD is loaded up with an array of extra features that are very informative. Director Martin Campbell and producer Lloyd Phillips sit in for an audio commentary and concentrate on many of the technical issues of making the movie, such as dealing with over 700 extras and the problems of using snow machines on mountain tops.
A whole host of featurettes covering every production angle is included on the disc and offer plenty of cast and crew interviews combined with behind-the-scenes footage. If the movie gives you a taste for seeing how climbers really perform then you'll likely enjoy the exciting National Geographic Channel's "Quest for K2" documentary, which along with trailers and filmographies wrap up an excellent DVD.
