Every now and again, HBO Movies dish up a quality film, and this tale of the world famous trumpeter Arturo Sandoval is no exception. The production oozes class, from the direction to the performances, and it's a pleasure to watch on a quality DVD. This is a rental DVD, so there are no extra features.

The fullscreen transfer matches the original made for TV ratio, so there's no complaints there. It's a sharp effort, filled with rich colours and highly detailed, even during darker scenes.

It may seem disappointing that the sound mix is not 5.1, but the 2.0 effort on offer here performs well. In a story that deals with Arturo performing with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie (Charles S Dutton), the music is all important, and the DVD does it justice with excellent use of the surrounds. If you're intending to rent the movie, it's certainly worth splashing out a little more to get it on DVD.
