Fans of the unique writing abilities of Joe Eszterhas will be delighted that "Jade" is available on DVD. Unfortunately there is no personal insight from him on the disc.
Directed by William Friedkin, this is a good-looking film that shines on DVD. It's presented in a full screen transfer that is surprisingly sharp and rich with colour. The scenes of bloodstained frenzy are equally deep in texture.
Even more impressive is another superb 5.1 sound mix from Paramount. Particularly good is the ballroom scene in chapter two that fills the speakers with party guests who chatter and laugh around you to disconcerting effect. The rest of the movie really gives your rear speakers plenty to do, with the car chase in chapter 11 a suitably noisy experience.
The only extra on the disc is the original trailer, which looks surprisingly unexciting given that it's for an Eszterhas movie.
