Duxford Air Show, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September 2009The Duxford Air Show presents the very best in historic and modern aviation, both civil and military... If fast jets and vintage classics spark excitement in you, then the September air show at the Imperial War Museum Duxford will certainly appeal! In the sky...The flying displays on both days will fill you with a sense of awe and wonder. The museum is delighted to announce that the world-renowned Red Arrows will be closing the flying programme on Saturday with sensational aerobatics in their famous red Hawks! ![]() The Red Arrows in formation With a reputation for creative flying skill and incredible professionalism, the Red Arrows are sure to bring Saturday's air display to a resounding climax. And on Sunday there will be more thrills and spills as the Aerostars take to the skies for more amazing aerobatics - including gyroscopic manoeuvres, a full formation downwards bomb-burst and an exciting 6 aircraft on-crowd break to finish... a photo opportunity not to be missed! ![]() Spitfire, photo by Neil Baker Also in the sky will be the RAF Typhoon (Saturday only), RAF Hawk (both days), RAF Chinook (both days) and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane (both days), and many more. Whether your preference is for jets, propellers or helicopters you'll see the nostalgic beauty of vintage aeroplanes compete in the skies with the sheer power of modern aircraft! On the ground...There are plenty of permanent attractions for you to enjoy over the weekend, all included in the cost of an air show ticket. Don't miss AirSpace - Duxford's £25m colossal hangar which showcases some of the most spectacular aircraft to have taken to our skies in the last century. ![]() American Air Museum, IWM Duxford There's also the American Air Museum, the Battle of Britain Hangar and the Land Warfare Hall among many other displays, exhibitions and hangars! And of course there will be all the usual opportunities for shopping, food and drink, or you could bring along your own picnic! BBC Cambridgeshire will be at Duxford for the whole weekend as part of the big BBC Bus Tour! They'll be broadcasting live, and you'll be able to hop on the bus to meet the presenters, try your hand at making TV and radio, and grab yourself a balloon, car sticker and other goodies!
