Think again as 50 performers are previewing their shows right here at Cambridge's very own chuckle-fest. Cambridge Comedy Festival - Thursday 11th - Sunday 21st June 2009 @ various city centre venuesFor full details of the performers, dates, venues and tickets visit the official festival website: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external websites ![]() An exclusive from Ardal O'Hanlon Two years ago, the guys behind Jesterlarf Comedy Club brought 14 live acts to the city's first Comedy Festival. Now in its third year, the Cambridge Comedy Festival has more than tripled in size with 50 acts spread over 11 days at three city centre venues (The University Grad Pad, The Junction and The Boathouse). That's an awful lot of belly laughs; it's also a whole load of new and unique belly laughs as Cambridge's Comedy Festival is a major pit stop for many of the acts heading up to the Edinburgh Festival in August. That's where the unique bit comes in... this is the only comedy festival in the UK dedicated to preview shows. We're like little Edinburgh Festival guinea pigs... which is pretty good actually as we can save a whole lot of cash and it's way easier on the shoe leather! Ha, ha, hee, hee highlights...Ardal O'Hanlon (of Father Ted fame) is coming over from Ireland for a one-off show just for the Festival (Fri 19th June) ![]() Arthur Smith: funnier than he looks! A festival exclusive from Arthur Smith - master and elder statesman of the comedy circuit (Sat 13th June) Plus new shows from comedy's big hitters including Rhod Gilbert (17th), Richard Herring (15th), Lucy Porter (21st), Robin Ince (19th), Phil Nichol (16th) and Craig Campbell (16th). Some great family & kids' shows including The Yarn Bards Family Improv (21st) who have morphed out of the Comedy Store Players & Paul Merton's Improv Chums. Children's author and comedian Ian Billings (14th) and the marvellous Scottish Falcetto Sock Puppet Theatre (13th) ![]() Split your sides... Chuckles on the cheap...Why not get comfortable for the evening and take in some Credit Crunching performances at the Boathouse, on Chesterton Road, where you can see three shows for just seven of your fine English pounds?
