Stourbridge Medieval Fair, Saturday 8th September, 2007 @ the Leper Chapel, Barnwell Junction, Newmarket Road, Cambridge. From midday to 4pm

Medieval madness and mayhem will take over Cambridge's Leper Chapel when the country's oldest medieval fair is re-enacted for your delight and delectation.

Fun for thy family...

Whether ye be a maiden, a minstrel or a minor, ye will absolutely love this great afternoon of fun and frolics. Thou wilt have thy socks knocked off by the dancing ladies, lutes and flutes, and peddlers with their potions.

Stallholders - many of them in costume - will ply their wares, including cheeses, garlic, honey, cakes, beeswax and more. Plus there's lots for your mini medieval monsters including storytellers and a quiz.

For ye olde history buffs, there'll be living history talks to guide you through Cambridge's history since 1199, when King John first granted the lepers the right to hold a three-day fair to support their income and stop them from begging on the streets.

So, to keep ye off the streets, and support the continued upkeep of probably Cambridge's oldest surviving building, get thyself along to yon chapel for an afternoon of fun at the fair.

This is a family-friendly event so thou wilt not be needing thy chastity belt, but thou wilt need sturdy shoes or a horse and cart as there is no parking for thy modern wagon at the chapel.
