The Dogs of War

Not only will the American Air Museum be decked out to the nines, but there will also be special demonstrations from the K-9 dog unit, massive fire trucks, a combat medical team field display, live music from the United States Air Forces Europe rock band and more American-themed stands and stalls than you can shake your pom-poms at!

Is it a bird...?

No, it's a plane. And not just the one... Taking to the skies will be some of the very latest combat aircraft boasting state-of-the art equipment and firepower. From fast jets to huge helicopters to massive troop carriers, they'll all be lifting off together with the mighty B-17 Flying Fortress Sally B and a P-51 Mustang.

What a brilliant birthday bash!

It's not just a day to celebrate the museum's ten years - it's also being billed as a tribute to the US Air Force's 60 years of service and operations in Europe.

During the First World War five American Aero Squadrons were based at Duxford - a tradition that lasted through to the end of the Second World War. The American Air Museum was opened in August 1997 to pay tribute to the 30,000 US airmen who gave their lives flying from British bases, including Duxford, during WWII.
