James Cameron's Titanic

The sinking of the Titanic

An Exhibition to Remember

The dramatic story of the maiden voyage of history's most infamous ship, RMS Titanic, is brought to life at Peterborough Museum this summer, with the opening of a brand new exhibition.

Titanic: Honour & Glory

The exhibition runs from Saturday 30th June to Sunday 30th September

The Museum is open 10am-5pm Tuesday to Saturday, and 12-4pm Sunday (closed Monday)

Admission is FREE

For more details call the Museum on 01733 343329, or click on the link at the top of this page

You've seen the film, now you can learn more about the real history of the Titanic at Peterborough Museum's fascinating exhibition documenting the vessel's doomed maiden voyage.

A survivor's pocket watch

Visitors will have a chance to learn what life was like aboard the luxurious ship, view a collection of objects from Titanic, including personal items belonging to survivors, as well as the exquisite china and decorations used on "the ship of dreams" and her sister ships, Olympic and Britannic.

You can go beyond the luxury of the first class passengers, with the story of the Peterborough family who set sail for Florida as third-class, or steerage, passengers. Mr and Mrs Sage, and their nine children, who came from Gladstone Street, were among the 1,500 who perished on the night of April 14th, 1912.

Kate Winslet's costume from Titanic

Also on display are props from James Cameron's epic re-telling of the story, including one of the costumes worn by Kate Winslet, and the film's famous "Heart of the Ocean" necklace. Sets recreate a third-class cabin, a part of the sunken wreck today, and even the prow of the ship, where you can have your very own Jack ands Rose moment, and pose for a commemorative photo!

This amazing exhibition belongs to one private collector, and is coming to Peterborough for three months only as part of a nationwide tour.

Hi my name is lindsay i'm 12 year old. And Titanic is my favourite movie ever. Not only that, but before the movie the ship was in my best interest. The emotion and suspence Mr. Cameron put into the film was fantastic. My omly dream is to see what it realy was like on board the RMS Titanic. If you end up with a tour (which would most be appreciated)stop by Kenora ONT or Winnipeg Manitoba. I would love to be up close and in person for apart of the experience.

Kristen
Hello my name is Kristen and i'm 15 years old. That is wonderful to have the costumes and all the scenery from the movie. I am very passionate about both the movie The Titanic and the real story behind the magnificent beauty. Hopefully if you do do a tour, one stop you should make is in either Baltimore, Maryland or The Ben Frankilin Institue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I'd love to this up close and in person to be apart of the experience.
